A model of the construction of the basilica

The Romans invented a frame saw, in which the blade was fixed to uprights,joined by a crossbar. Very large frame saws were operated by two perople.
Roman carpenters used tools very similar to those used by carpenters today.  
This model was made by Hugo Lienhard in 1995.
